Pruning for Shape & Light
In small urban gardens in which every plant counts and space is at a premium, enhancing the overall design of a tree or a shrub through pruning gives it an extra chance for long term survival and appreciation. We can often remove the lower branches to reveal the tree and allow for under planting. We can bring light into the canopy to minimize shade or enhance a view. However, we DO NOT TOP as topping hurts trees and make them unsafe.
